About Becky

The CrabbieMasters program was created by Becky through her years of experience in elementary education and in preparing pre-schoolers for kindergarten, grade-school, and in many ways the real world. The initial concept of “The Crabbies” began in her in-home preschool in the late 1980’s and has been used and expanded on ever since. She has enjoyed very positive results from both children and their parents, and is truly hopeful that what she uses in her home still today can be as useful to others as it has proven to be for her and the children she teaches.

Paul, one of her early pre-schoolers now in his twenties has volunteered incredible time and energy into this project. Because of his own appreciation for Becky, and for The Crabbies, he frequently said he wanted to help her build a website. So, Paul, Becky, and her husband have worked together to make the CrabbieMasters website available to all with great hopes to spread this unique and fun-for-all teaching style to others who can use it to help children learn and grow in a positive, caring environment.

Upon graduating with a teaching degree in 1975, Becky worked in the public school system in elementary education as a math and reading specialist for six years. Because of low enrollments, she was laid-off just as her first daughter was born. One of the statements she had heard many times from her peers was that “who the kids are” was already pretty much established by the time they got there. What the other teachers meant by this was mostly about attitude!

The concepts Becky focuses on with The Crabbies and CrabbieMasters is based on the needs she saw in working extensively with hundreds of both elementary and preschool age children, including her own two daughters, who are now in their early twenties.

Becky expresses great appreciation for all the children and parents she has had the pleasure of working with over the years, and who have all in one way or another contributed to making this a reality. Becky knows she has learned as much from the kids as they have learned from her.
